ST. GEORGE — The 4A boys state basketball tournament is underway at Utah Valley University in Orem and Region 9’s teams are battling it out.

Snow Canyon and Region 9 champion Dixie tipped off around 1:15 p.m. St. George News will have complete coverage of the game as it develops.

Dixie beat the Warriors in their two previous contests during the Region 9 regular season.

Breckon Robinson and Logan Wideaur combined to score 11 3-pointers and 53 points in the Flyers’ second round win over Desert Hills.

Meanwhile Snow Canyon is led by future Utah Tech Trailblazer Owen Mackay, who scored 45 of the Warriors’ 63 points in their second round win over Mountain View.

In earlier boys games Monday at the Utah Community Credit Union Center at UVU, No. 4 Green Canyon beat No. 5 Ridgeline 67-64 to win the Region 11 rematch.

And No. 1 Layton Christian Academy fended off No. 8 Murray, just avoiding the upset when the Eagles advanced to the semifinals after a 56-53 victory.
