ST. GEORGE — It was a busy night of basketball in Southern Utah on Thursday.

College basketball rivals Utah Tech and Southern Utah faced each other at a home-and-home, with the women playing in St. George and the men in Cedar City. And in Region 9 high school girls basketball, there were three match-ups.

On the college front, the host teams both won, with the Trailblazer women (9-8 overall, 3-3 in Western Athletic Conference) defeating the Thunderbirds (4-11, 2-4)  78-71 and the SUU men (6-11, 1-5) triumphing over Utah Tech (7-10, 3-3) 75-65.

And on the prep docket, Pine View beat Crimson Cliffs 53-44, Snow Canyon handled Hurricane 65-31 and Desert Hills edged Dixie 44-42.
