ST. GEORGE — Residents around Sherman Road and the Bloomington Hills area are under an alert from the St. George Police Department, which is currently searching for an alleged bank robber in the area.

A Facebook post that went out shortly after 2 p.m. read as follows:
“The St George Police Department is actively searching for a suspect involved in a robbery. This individual has fled and was last seen in the area of Sherman Rd in Bloomington Hills.
Male is described as black male, wearing a ski mask, black hoodie, blue jeans. Suspect may be armed so use extreme caution. Please secure your windows and doors to your home. Dial 911 if you see this male. We are not looking for volunteers. DO NOT GO TO THE AREA. STAY AWAY UNTIL THIS INCIDENT HAS BEEN RESOLVED. Thank you!”
Bloomington Hills Elementary and Desert Hills Middle and High School have been placed under a “secure” mode, meaning outside doors have been locked and school is continuing as usual until it has been deemed safe to release students, said Washington County School District Communications Director Steve Dunham.
