April 20, 1934-May 11, 2024

Brent Schow Hatch, our beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend, passed away at his home in Leeds, Utah, after a short illness. Brent was born April 20, 1934, to John Franklin Hatch and Grace Schow Hatch in Panguitch, Utah. He was the fifth of five children.

Brent spent most of his youth in Panguitch. He graduated from Panguitch High School in 1952. He married Sara Ann Orton, also of Panguitch, in the summer of 1953 in Fredonia, Arizona. They were later sealed in the St. George Temple. Brent spent two years in the Army beginning in 1953. Brent and Sara had two children born to them, Rachel in 1955 and Mitchel Brent in 1956. They made their homes in Salt Lake City, Utah, and Richfield, Utah. Brent and Sara were later divorced.

Brent was an extremely hard worker and a good provider for his family. He spent most of his career in sales management with the B.F. Goodrich Tire and Rubber Company.

Brent married Lucy Anna Nielsen in 1981 and thereby gained a bonus family. Lucy had three children: son, Randy and two daughters Jodi and Heidi. Brent and Lucy were sealed for time and all eternity on May 12, 2023, in the Cedar City, Utah Temple.

Brent and Lucy built two homes in the Pinebrook development near Park City and spent a total of 14 years there. In 1991 at the age of 57 and after nearly 30 years with the B.F. Goodrich Company, he took an early retirement. A year later, he and Lucy moved to Leeds, Utah, and there they built their retirement home.

Brent loved the great outdoors and always enjoyed exploring. Brent and Lucy spent many wonderful years traveling around the country in their fifth-wheel trailer making countless memories and many great friends. They also enjoyed spending time with family. They dearly loved their children and grandchildren and were so proud of each one.

Brent is a lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many capacities throughout his life. He had a strong testimony of the restored Gospel and always tried to do the right thing.

Brent was a man with many friends. To get to know him was to love him. He had a big heart and lived a life serving others as long as he physically could. Even though he is surely enjoying joyous reunions with his beloved Lucy and other loved ones passed on, he will be sorely missed by his family and friends.

Brent is survived by his daughter Rachel Hatch Auernig (Gene Redford) of Hurricane, Utah; daughter-in-law Lottie Hatch of Panguitch Lake, Utah; son Randy Klein (Marla) of New York City, New York; daughter Jodi Wood (Scott) of Salt Lake City, Utah; and brother-in-law Kay Nielsen (Sondra) Salt Lake City, Utah. He also leaves behind 13 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents, siblings, his son Mitchel Brent Hatch, his daughter Heidi Sno Johnsen and his beloved wife and eternal companion, Lucy.

Funeral services will be held Friday, May 31, at 10 a.m. at the Leeds LDS Chapel, 75 North Main Street, Leeds, Utah. A visitation will be held prior to the services from 9-9:45 a.m. at the church. Interment will follow the services at the Panguitch Cemetery in Panguitch, Utah.
