CEDAR CITY – A man was hospitalized following a reported stabbing in Cedar City Friday evening.
The incident, which involved two men, reportedly occurred at approximately 6 p.m. at an apartment complex at 199 E. Canyon Commercial Avenue.
Cedar City Police Sgt. Justin Ludlow said the first responding officer who arrived on scene found a man inside one of the apartments who had lost a “substantial” amount of blood.
After receiving first aid from the responding officer, the man was transported by Gold Cross Ambulance to Cedar City Hospital for treatment of injuries that Ludlow described non-life-threatening.
Meanwhile, police are in the process of interviewing the other man, Ludlow said, adding that the investigation is still in its preliminary stages.
“The suspect had injuries, nothing that was life-threatening or serious,” Ludlow told Cedar City News just after 9 p.m. Friday. “We’re still investigating. We have to find out if it was self-defense or what was going on.”
Multiple Cedar City Police officers, including a detective, responded to the scene, as did a Southern Utah University Police officer.
This is a developing story.
This report is based on preliminary statements from law enforcement officials and may not contain the full scope of findings.
