The water main in the area of Telegraph Street up to North Scenic Drive West and East Scenic Drive North were impacted by three water main breaks, according to a post on the Washington City Facebook page  Tuesday afternoon.

Jordan Hess, a spokesman for Washington City, said the original break was caused by a contractor hitting the water line. This caused two additional breaks in the same line due to low water pressure the original break created, he said.

While no one in the area was left without water, Hess said, they have likely experienced reduced water pressure in their homes while the water line is being repaired.

As repairs continue into the evening, people passing through the area are asked “to obey posted speed limits and signs, follow traffic signals safely, and exercise caution when traveling through the work zone … Please adjust your route if needed and thank you for your understanding.”

Hess echoed the Facebook statement that the water main is expected to be repaired and re-pressurized by the end of the day.

A member of a work crew at the scene of one of the water main breaks said they had been dealing with the issue since last night, yet also said they believe the problem will be taken care of sometime in the evening.

“We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your patience and cooperation,” the Facebook statement reads.
