May 10, 1994-March 6, 2024

Dallin Kurtis Kendall, 29, passed away on March 6, 2024, at St. George Regional Hospital from complications of heart problems and pneumonia. Dallin was born in St. George, Utah, at Dixie Regional Medical Center on May 10, 1994, to Kurtis and Sheila Kendall.

Dallin was diagnosed with severe autism at the age of 3. It wasn’t until he was 13 years old, after seeing multiple doctors and specialists, that he was diagnosed with an extremely rare genetic/neurological condition called Cerebral Folate Transport Deficiency, which slowly took his mobility over the years, leaving him in a wheelchair or bed-bound for the past 15 years.

Nearly everyone who met Dallin over the years couldn’t help but love him. He had a sweet spirit despite his challenges and sometimes difficult behaviors and episodes. Even with his trials, Dallin was considered an exceptional teacher, imparting lessons of unconditional love and patience, particularly to his parents and family members.

Dallin attended The Learning Center for children with special needs, Sunset Elementary School, Washington Elementary School, Fossil Ridge Intermediate School, Pine View Middle School, graduated from Pine View High School and attended Post-High School until age 22. He loved going to school, riding the school bus and even carried a toy school bus with him for years, collecting toy school buses throughout his life.

At an early age, Dallin developed a strong interest in all things Disney. He loved Disney movies, books, music and toys, amassing a cherished Disney collection he took everywhere. He enjoyed being outdoors, jumping on the trampoline, getting in water, swinging and going to the mountains, cabins and the zoo. But his favorite place was Disneyland, where he loved seeing his favorite characters, especially Rafiki the baboon from Disney’s The Lion King.

Dallin adored his family and loved visiting his grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins, especially those with Disney VHS movies he could browse through. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Dallin is survived by his parents Kurtis and Sheila Kendall; brothers Garrett Kendall and Kole Kendall; his Grandma and Grandpa Dalley; and many aunts, uncles and cousins who loved him dearly.

A special thank you to everyone who worked with or helped Dallin in any way, especially doctors, therapists, practitioners, DSPD, support coordinators, Chrysalis Day Program, A Gentle Touch home health (Kay and Tegan), and all involved in setting up Dallin’s apartment. Thanks also to those who supported Dallin and his family during his final weeks and days at St. George Hospital.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, March 19, at 10 a.m. in the Washington 4th Ward Chapel, 82 North Main St., Washington, Utah. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, prior to services, from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the church. Interment will be in the Washington City Cemetery located at 300 Park View Drive.
