Delores Maxine Tipton Carlson, age 83, passed away on Jan. 31, 2024. She was born March 22, 1940, to Hermon Oren Tipton “Tip”, and Wilma Pauline Tipton.
She was born in Orosi, California, in her parents’ home. She was the third-born child with two older brothers, Donald Herman age 3 and Delbert Gene almost two years. She spent most of her growing-up years in central California near Fresno. She enjoyed living close to her grandparents and spending many weekends at their home. Her parents took the family to church where Delores learned about Jesus and how to pray.
The children were taught the value of hard work. This attribute served them well throughout their lives.
In high school, she was a cheerleader and a majorette. She loved sports, not necessarily as a participant, but to watch her brothers play. She also sang in the school choir. She met her future husband Roger in the Spring of 1957. They were married in July of 1958.
In 1963 they were blessed with the first of two sons Kenneth Roger, then Bradley Grant joined their family three years later. Delores loved being a mom. It was all she had ever wanted to be. She fussed, worried about and cared for these two lucky little boys. There were many fun times during the boys’ growing-up years. Roger and Delores decided that the family should move away from southern California, so in the summer of 1976, they moved to Southern Utah. They built a home in Santa Clara, Utah, and there they have resided for over 47 years.
Delores loved the gospel of Jesus Christ. As a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she served faithfully in many callings. She played piano, worked in primary at many different callings and served in Mutual/Young Women’s, Relief Society and any other assignment she was given.
Delores taught those around her, by example, what it meant to endure with faith through trials and pain. Her great faith in the Savior sustained her. She was loved by so many and will surely be missed by those who know her.
She leaves behind her husband Roger, sons Ken (Kathy), Brad (Trudy), five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, Feb. 8, at 11 a.m., at the LDS Chapel on 3815 Rachel Dr., Santa Clara, Utah. A visitation will be held prior to the service from 9:30-10:30 a.m. also at the chapel. Interment will take place at the Santa Clara City Cemetery.
