Donna Jane Sweeney, 80, a resident of St. George for many years, died peacefully in her home on Saturday, Dec. 23, 2023.
She was born in Chisholm, Minnesota on Aug. 26, 1943, to Donald Christian and Mary Jane Nuesse.
She married Richard Sweeney and together they had three children: James Elliott, Mary Ann West and Donald Elliott.
Donna retired from Hughes Aircraft and soon after she relocated to St. George. She enjoyed camping, traveling and visiting Utah’s national parks. In her spare time, she loved to decorate her home, craft and create scrapbooks.
Donna was preceded in death by her husband, Richard; sister, Patricia; and son James. She is survived by her son, Donald; daughter, Mary Ann; nephew Chester; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, Jan. 4, 2024, at 1 p.m. in the chapel at Metcalf Mortuary, 288 West St. George Blvd. in St. George.
A visitation will be held prior to the service, from 11:30 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. at the mortuary. Interment will be at the St. George City Cemetery located at 650 East Tabernacle Street in St. George.
