After receiving a 911 call for a house fire on Indian Knolls Drive in the Washington Fields area just before 9 p.m., Washington City firefighters arrived at the home at approximately 9:04 p.m. to find heavy flames and smoke coming from the garage, Washington City Fire Captain Kelly Lang told St. George News.

The garage doors were closed at the time and eventually broken open as additional firefighters arrived on scene.

Items in the garage, including a pickup truck and car, appeared to have been completely consumed by the fire before firefighters were able to contain the blaze and keep it from spreading into the rest of the house.

The fire was out by 9:30 p.m., but firefighters continued checking the charred garage for smoldering spots that could reignite.

By 9:44 p.m., Lang said that all occupants of the home and firefighters involved had been accounted for, and no injuries were reported.

The home’s occupants won’t be able to stay in the house for a while due to the fire, Lang said, adding that power and other utilities have either shut off already or are going to be soon.

Firefighters stayed on scene to continue mopping up the incident. The cause of the fire has yet to be determined, the fire captain said.

Gold Cross Ambulance and Washington City Police also responded to the scene.

This report is based on statements from police or other responders and may not contain the full scope of findings.
