PROVO — The Snow Canyon boys won their third consecutive state track and field championship on Saturday, with region rival Crimson Cliffs placing second. In the 4A girls meet, Snow Canyon placed second to Timpanogos.

Pine View took third as a team in both boys and girls.

The meet, staged at Brigham Young University, attracted more than 3,600 athletes from 134 schools across Utah, spanning all six classifications.

Among the numerous highlights were Snow Canyon’s Matt Maclennan, Semaj Thompson, Benjamin Judd and Trevor Gough winning the 4×400 relay, setting a new 4A state record in the process. Earlier in the day, the Warriors had also dominated both hurdles races.

Leading the way for the Snow Canyon girls was sophomore Amelia Nadauld, who was a four-time gold medal winner at state for the second straight year, winning the 100, 200, 300 hurdles and the long jump.

In the 3A classification, the Canyon View High School girls won the runner-up trophy. The Falcons, who were led by senior sprinter Gabriele Dabb’s wins in three individual events plus one relay, finished with 88.5 team points, only 5.5 behind state champion Union.

And in the 2A boys, Beaver edged Millard 80 points to 75 to capture the state title. Beaver County’s Milford High won the runnerup boys 1A trophy.

Meanwhile, in 1A, the Panguitch boys won their fourth straight state title and their ninth since 2013. However, the Panguitch girls saw their 10-year championship streak come to an end at the hands of the Rich Rebels.
