Shortly before 5 p.m., a motor vehicle reportedly sparked the “Tank Fire” between two water tanks along Old Highway 91 near the Valley Bible Church. The fire quickly ballooned to an estimated 10 acres, and nearby structures were considered threatened, according to Utah Fire Info. But “crews were able to stop its forward progression” less than an hour later.

Firefighters will continue mop-up operations, Utah Fire Info states.

While the Utah Department of Transportation reported that traffic along the highway and southbound Interstate 15 near mile marker 64 was interrupted, traffic reportedly resumed shortly after 6 p.m.

The Utah Highway Patrol and the Cedar City Fire Department were seen responding to the scene, along with aerial support.

This report is based on statements from court records, police or other responders and may not contain the full scope of findings.
