Lynne Ann (Stevens) Bartz passed away at the age of 86 on March 16, 2024, in Washington, Utah. Lynne was born at home on Dec. 7, 1937, to the late Francis and Ellen (Kolderup) Stevens in Suring, Wisconsin.
Lynne was raised in Suring, Wisconsin, where she was a high school class officer, prom queen and drum majorette. After graduating, she married her high school sweetheart James Bartz, of Mountain, Wisconsin, on Jan. 12, 1957, at the Suring Methodist Church. After her wedding, Lynne briefly worked as a beautician before starting a family and selling Avon products in Green Bay.
In 1971, the family moved to Longmont, Colorado, where Lynne worked as a teacher’s aide, secretary at IBM, and as a secretary at Grace Evangelical Free Church for several years. She was an active member at the church and sang in the choir. She and Jim moved to California in 1987, eventually settling in the Solvang area where Lynne worked as the city clerk until her retirement in 2003. She also attended and sang in the choir at Trinity Baptist Church.
After retiring, Lynne and Jim moved to Washington, Utah. She attended Southland Bible Church where she was, once again, an active member. In 2003, Lynne and Jim also began spending summers in Mountain, Wisconsin, and did so for several years. She was able to reconnect with many family members and childhood friends during this time.
Lynne was a beloved and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She lived her life for Christ and everyone who knew her could see that in her actions. Wherever she lived, Lynne created beautiful, peaceful homes. Her cooking and baking skills were second to none and her pies will be especially missed by Jim. It was joked that her hobby was cleaning, as her house was always immaculate and she loved to clean. She was an avid Green Bay Packers fan throughout her life. In retirement, she also became a fan of the Milwaukee Brewers and Utah Jazz.
Lynne was preceded in death by her parents, her siblings Donald, Jack, Sue and Ellen and one nephew Bradley.
Lynne is survived by her husband Jim; son Mark Bartz, San Francisco, California; daughter Pam (Phil) Temple, Plover, Wisconsin; grandchildren Ash (Kevin) Russell, Plover, Wisconsin, and Tyler (Carmel) Temple, St. Paul, Minnesota; sister Debrah Carroll, Green Bay, Wisconsin; brother-in-law Richard (Carolyn) Urban, Santa Ynez, California; and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, April 6, at 3 p.m. at Southland Bible Church, 195 E. Arrowhead Way, Washington, Utah.
