July 14, 1993-April 1, 2024
Michael Levens, a soldier, a friend and a loved one. He did everything he could and sacrificed nearly everything so others were happy. A strength, yes, but he had trouble doing things for his happiness. He fought battles every day but continued to push through.
The thing keeping him from true happiness was a substance that has the terrible potential to change a person and change how they think. But even when he was drowning, he tried to keep positive, he tried to hold to what was dear.
He did it all, until the unfortunate and sudden end. But now he is finding the peace he desperately needed and very much deserved. Which I prayed for just two days before.
It is unfortunate that this was the moment his time had come. The last thing he asked me was, “Do you understand what I am going through?” I wish I could have answered. But he is no longer in pain. He is home. If there was a last thing I learned from him, it is that we have every right to turn to someone and let them know that we are struggling. Because we will find and know, one way or another, what others are going through.
But I believe that the one that felt it all was Jesus Christ. The one who sacrificed his own to feel every pain, sorrow and sickness so that he could be our Savior and comforter. He took the sting of death and he heals all that come to him.
I will miss my EPIC Sweetheart, my partner in crime and in combat. And the world will miss a friend, family and one of the kindest, selfless souls it has ever known.
God be with you ’til we meet again.
