ST. GEORGE — Emergency crews are working to contain a structure fire near the intersection of Hayrocks Drive and Honeyomb Drive east of St. George.

Numerous firefighters and rigs, including ladder trucks, currently are on scene after the blaze was reported shortly after 5 p.m. A large pillar of black smoke was visible, and flames and smoke were seen coming from the roof of a residence.

One person reportedly is being treated on scene by medical personnel.

The cause of the fire has not been determined.

5:48 p.m.: St. George News’ Mori Kessler reports “damage appears to be on the east side of the house in the garage area.”

6 p.m.: Kessler reports “mop up” operations appear to be underway.
