ST. GEORGE — The public is invited to the first-ever City Art Show, which will have an opening reception on Wednesday evening.
According to a news release issued by the city of St. George, a wide array of art—ranging from leatherwork and wood carving to photography and ceramics—will be on display. But this isn’t an ordinary art show. Each piece has been produced by city of St. George employees, whose jobs cover a cross-section of duties within the city, such as the Police Department, water services, parks, community arts and others.
It’s all part of the first-ever City Art Show Exhibition at Red Cliff Gallery, located in the City Commons Building (220 N. 200 East), from Wednesday, July 31, to Aug. 17.
An opening night reception will be held Wednesday, July 31, from 5-7 p.m., where live music and refreshments will be provided by the DonutNV Food Truck.
“I was astounded and amazed at the broad range of artistic abilities that our staff possesses,” Michelle Graves, assistant parks and community services director for the city of St. George, said in the news release. “We all have many talents — many unknown or unseen by our co-workers, perhaps due to the nature of our jobs — so this has been a real eye-opener for us. We love having the opportunity to share this art with the whole community.”
The Red Cliff Gallery is open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday from noon to 4 p.m.
