ST. GEORGE — It’s time to swap sunblock for backpacks as school is back in session.

This year, students began school with a full week ahead, rather than beginning mid-week, which has been the case in the past.

One thing that hasn’t changed is the sweltering heat. While summer temperatures still hover around 100 degrees, students across Washington County waved farewell to summer break on Monday morning as they headed off to their first day of school.

And with school back in session, motorists are being reminded to pay extra attention while driving and obey all traffic laws.

Below is a sampling of reader-submitted photos in response to St. George News’ call for back-school photos on Facebook.
