“You look at each team and each one has a superstar,” Dixie coach Tyler Roberts told St. George News. “The region was loaded this year. We were lucky enough to have four or five guys in that group.”

Dixie went unbeaten in Region 9 and finished 22-4. After posting back-to-back 4A state runner-up finishes the previous two seasons, the Flyers fell to Region 9 rival Snow Canyon in the quarterfinals at state in Orem last week.

Dixie senior Jordan Roberts was named Region 9 MVP. The standout point guard was ranked No. 1 in the state and nation in assists per game (12.08).

He also set the Utah High School Activities Association record for most assists in a single season with 290. And he finished tops in 4A with 11 double-doubles over the course of the season.

“He’s done something that no one has ever done before, and thanks to the coaches for recognizing what a great year he had,” coach Roberts said about his son.

Region 9 coaches also recognized Dixie senior center Kyle Lemke as Defensive MVP.

“Kyle was our defensive big man in the paint,” coach Roberts said. “He’s not going to block every shot but he’s still one of those big guys that makes it so difficult for other teams to score on.”

The All-Region 9 First Team included Breckon Robinson (Dixie), Eli Allred (Desert Hills), Nash Schroeder (Pine View), Owen Mackay (Snow Canyon) and Sean Felts (Crimson Cliffs).

The Second Team consisted of Ben Chase (Desert Hills), Cayleb Jackman (Hurricane), Griffen Shepherd (Pine View), Landon Kreitzer (Cedar) and Logan Wideauer (Dixie).

The Third Team as determined by coaches featured Easton Albrecht (Cedar), Jackson Holman (Desert Hills), Scoop Johnson (Crimson Cliffs), Trey Kelsch (Snow Canyon) and Trevor Condie (Pine View).

Several other Region 9 players earned honorable mention: Adam Moore (Pine View), Damon Ence (Snow Canyon), Damon Meyers (Dixie), Drake Carroll (Crimson Cliffs), Mason Rasmussen (Desert Hills), Owen Iloa (Snow Canyon) and RJ Hurst (Hurricane).
