HURRICANE — Thanks to its top four players shooting 90 or better, the Cedar Reds won the Region 9 golf match on Thursday at Sky Mountain in Hurricane.

Leading the way for Cedar was Breelle Evan, who shot an 81, followed by Taylyn Wilson’s 83. Both scores were personal bests, Cedar head coach Laycee Johnson said.
“We have a solid team this year,” Johnson added. “Each week we are getting more confident.”
Rounding out the Reds’ top four scores were RaeLee Johnson, the coach’s daughter, who shot 87, and Denym Bohn, who finished at 90.
Cedar finished with a team score of 341, which put them 16 strokes ahead of runner-up Crimson Cliffs’ 357. The Mustangs were once again led by sophomore Kate Walker, who had the best round of the day, finishing with a 1-under score of 71.
Coming in third place as a team were the Pine View Panthers, who scored 372. They were led by Alyssa Butterfus, who shot a 76. See full listing of team scores below, along with the top 10 individual scores.
The players have next week off; the next scheduled Region 9 match will be April 11 at SunRiver Golf Club in St. George.
