ST. GEORGE — Traffic coming off Interstate 15’s Brigham Road/Exit 4 interchange into Bloomington began to slow Monday afternoon due to a single-vehicle crash on the east side of the junction.

St. George Police officers and other first responders were dispatched around 1:45 p.m. to the side of Brigham Road opposite the Pilot Flying J gas station where a white SUV had jumped the curb and crashed into a small ravine along the roadside.
St. George Police Officer Tiffany Mitchell said the driver, a 24-year-old woman, had been driving recklessly, according to multiple witnesses who also told police she almost crashed into them.
“She hit the curb multiple times before jumping it and landing in the ravine,” Mitchell said in a text to St. George News.
While the woman was unharmed in the crash, she was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol or some other substance.
The police closed off the right lane of eastbound Brigham Road juts off the interchange to have some space to respond to and investigate the crash.
This caused traffic coming off the exit to slow and briefly and stop at various points as an officer controlled the flow of traffic coming off northbound I-15 by only letting a small number at a time to pass.
Despite the slowdown, traffic appeared largely uninterrupted and safely passed by the crash scene.
Responding to the incident alongside St. George Police were the St. George Fire Department and Gold Cross Ambulance.
This report is based on preliminary information provided by law enforcement and may not contain the full scope of findings.
