ST. GEORGE — Two people riding a tandem bicycle on Sunday evening collided with a deer near the south entrance of Zion National Park, authorities say.

The incident occurred between 8:30 p.m. and 9 p.m. National Park Service rangers responded along with paramedics from Hurricane Valley Fire and Rescue and officers from the Springdale Police Department, Jonathan Shafer, Zion National Park’s public information officer, told St. George News in an email.

Shafer did not go into detail concerning the condition of the tandem bicycle’s riders, yet confirmed both were transported to St. George Regional Hospital for care.
