ST. GEORGE — Faulty brakes on a truck allegedly caused a driver to lose control and smash into a light pole Tuesday morning.
Tiffany Mitchell, public information officer for the St. George Police Department, told St. George News that the incident occurred at 9:08 a.m. near 500 East and St. George Boulevard, where a 2001 Dodge pickup truck damaged a city light pole and the surrounding area. No electric outages were reported.
“The driver was coming out of the businesses at 500 East on the north side and his brakes gave out,” Mitchell said. “So he crossed into the eastbound lanes and went into oncoming traffic before swerving back over the median and hitting the light pole. Then he ended up in that taco shop parking lot.”
Mitchell added that no one was injured, and the driver received a citation.
This report is based on statements from court records, police or other responders and may not contain the full scope of findings.
