KANARRAVILLE — Two people were transported to the hospital Thursday evening following a single-vehicle crash on southbound Interstate 15 near the Kanarraville rest area.
The incident, which was reported at 6:10 p.m., involved a maroon Ford Edge with a female driver and a female passenger.
Utah Highway Patrol Lt. Clay Allred said the vehicle was headed south near mile marker 44 in wet and rainy conditions.
“The vehicle hydroplaned and left the road to the right,” Allred said, noting that the car crashed into some trees some distance away from the right shoulder.
Allred said the injured passenger was in serious condition and was transported via Life Flight helicopter to St. George Regional Hospital. The driver was transported via ground ambulance to a local hospital, he added.
“We would advise motorists to remember to slow their speed and increase following distance when inclement weather is on the roadway,” Allred said.
In addition to multiple Utah Highway Patrol Troopers, fire crews from Cedar City and Kanarraville fire departments also responded to the incident.
This report is based on statements from law enforcement officials and may not contain the full scope of findings.
