June 6, 1941-May 1, 2024

Vay Sawyer, beloved father, grandfather, brother and friend, passed away at the age of 82, on May 1, 2024, in Bella Vista, Arkansas. He was born on June 6, 1941, to Arnold and Verda Sawyer.

Vay is survived by his four girls – Vaelyn, Verene, Verla (Jeremy), and Vaneta — and 12 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren and Buddy, his best friend and furry companion.

Vay is preceded in death by his parents, a grandson and a great-grandson.

Vay graduated from Panguitch High School and later received a degree in Diesel Mechanics. However, he followed his passion and chose a career as a Truck Driver, earning many professional driving awards.

When he wasn’t on the road, Vay enjoyed camping, hunting, and indulging in BBQs where he smoked meats and cheeses to perfection. His favorite pastime, however, was spending quality time with his family, creating cherished memories that will last a lifetime.

Despite his battle with lung cancer, Vay faced life’s challenges with a smile and unwavering courage. He remained a hero to all who knew him, staying strong until his last breath.

There will be a visitation on Friday, May 10, from 10-10:45 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Hatch, Utah.

A funeral will follow at 11 a.m. in the Hatch LDS Chapel.

Interment will be in the Hatch City Cemetery, Hatch, Utah.
