From oil paintings to ceramics and watercolors to fibers, there is bound to be something for all residents to enjoy.
According to a media release, an opening reception will be held on Friday, Jan. 5, from 6-8 p.m. at the Red Cliff Gallery, 220 N. 200 E. in St. George. Awards will be presented at 7 p.m. All are invited to mingle with the artists and enjoy light refreshments and music.
“The Winter Art Show, though not confined by a winter theme, encapsulates the essence of the season’s spirit,” Washington City Arts Council board member Melanee Olsen said. “It’s a testament to the diversity and creativity within our local artist community. While the works may not explicitly depict winter scenes, they, like the season itself, evoke a sense of depth, reflection, and the quiet beauty found in unexpected places.”
The Washington City Arts Council is a dedicated organization committed to promoting and celebrating the arts and artists in Washington City. Through exhibitions, events and community engagement, the organization strives to foster creativity and appreciation for the arts within the Southern Utah community, Olsen told St. George News.

The arts council also has an autumn art show scheduled at Red Cliff Gallery from Sept. 4 to Oct. 4.
“The Winter Art show isn’t merely an exhibition; it’s a celebration of community, a canvas that reflects the heart and soul of our talented artists in Washington, Utah,” Olsen said. “We are grateful to the Southern Utah Art Guild and St. George City for allowing us to use the Red Cliff Gallery while we try to locate a space to host our art exhibitions in Washington — hopefully by 2025.”
Participating artists in the upcoming show include:
Watercolor artist Jo Engstrom
Acrylic & sculpture Cheryl S. Williams
Photographer Deborah Bice
Fiber artist Andrea Ell
Ceramic artist Anita Gardner
The Washington City Arts Council is sponsored by the Southern Utah Art Guild and funded by Washington City Recreation, Arts and Parks tax funds. For more information, please email the Washington City Arts Council at this link.
