ST. GEORGE — Piles of lumber, tractors, workers walking around in hard hats – welcome to Southern Utah. The area’s growth is seemingly unstoppable, with new buildings and renovations springing up everywhere you look.

In this episode of “What’s Going There,” Southern Utah’s show about developments and businesses in the works, Tom Callister with Linx Commercial Real Estate took a drive to the southwestern fringes of St. George to see what’s new at Exit 2.

Keep up with the progress of Desert Color and Exit 2 with Tom in this episode of “What’s Going There” in the media player above.

Exit 2 is where I-15 meets the Southern Parkway, and there’s plenty going on. Right next door to BigShots Golf will be the Larry H. Miller Megaplex family entertainment center offering bowling, an arcade and state-of-the-art movie theaters.

“This is a big deal for Southern Utah,” Callister said. “They only have one other project like this, and that’s in Daybreak.”

Crews are busy clearing land for additional locations of three local favorites: In-N-Out Burger, Del Taco and Smith’s Food and Drug. And there’s even more coming to this area, so stay tuned.

Nearby, Desert Color keeps exploding with growth. The resort lifestyle community will soon welcome a variety of restaurants, including Chipotle, Pizza Hut, Swig and Jersey Mike’s Subs.

Residents can also look forward to a Fabulous Freddy’s Car Wash and two credit union branches. Plus, construction is underway on apartments and the Atara hotel, part of the Marriott Autograph Collection.

“There’s so much going on, I don’t even know where to start,” Callister said. “Desert Color’s turning into its own little city out here.”
