The incident, which happened near 1600 W. Sunset Blvd. at approximately 3:40 p.m., involved a silver 2011 Honda Civic, a white 2008 Hyundai Sonata and a dark gray 2017 Range Rover.

St. George Police Officer Tiffany Mitchell said the 16-year-old male driver of the Honda Civic was attempting to make a left turn out of the parking lot of The Habit restaurant when the vehicle struck the Hyundai Sonata. That in turn sent the Sonata into the opposite lanes, where it collided with the Land Rover.

No serious injuries were reported.

“Everyone in the vehicles had seat belts on but everyone had some sort of abrasions or burns from the airbags,” Mitchell told St. George News, adding that the driver of the Land Rover was transported via ambulance to St. George Regional Hospital for further medical evaluation.

Mitchell said the Civic driver was cited for failure to yield when making a left turn.

Traffic along the moderately congested street was impacted by lane closures in both directions as St. George Police officers conducted their investigation and tow truck operators worked to remove the damaged vehicles and debris from the scene.

By 4:30 p.m., the scene had been cleared and the roadway fully reopened.

St. George Fire Department and UDOT Incident Management also responded to the incident.

This report is based on preliminary statements from law enforcement officials and may not contain the full scope of findings.
