CONTRIBUTED CONTENT — Are you ready to get hog wild? The Easter Bunny may be the star of spring, but it’s all about the pork during this year’s Hog and Jog 5K Family Fun Run. Whether you’ll run or walk, push a stroller or pull a dog, put on your piggy pink and aim for the finish line, where a bounty of tasty bacon awaits.

The Hog and Jog promises an action-packed morning of family fun. With music along the course, bacon bits at the aid station and a pig-themed selfie booth at the finish line, participants can celebrate and run at the same time.

“It’s just a fun race, a fun family event,” race director Dan Aamodt said. “People love doing it every year. They bring their kids, dress up and have a great time.”

New this year, race organizers will be randomly handing out $50 in cash to five lucky runners along the course. The St. George Running Center will also be awarding $25 gift cards to the four participants with the best bacon-themed or pig-themed costumes.

The 10th annual Hog and Jog will be held on Saturday, March 30. The race begins at 8 a.m. at Unity Park, located at 200 W. 400 South in Ivins, and loops back around to the same location. Although it’s not timed, the top three male and female finishers will earn prizes.

Every participant will receive a Hog and Jog T-shirt and finisher’s medal. The first 500 people to register also get an official Hog and Jog souvenir pig nose to wear during the race. The event usually sells out, so sign up as soon as you can.

“Don’t miss out on this one-of-a-kind, super crazy and super fun 5K!” Aamodt said.

Registration costs $37 per runner and $29 per additional family member. All entries are non-transferable and non-refundable, and the race will be held rain or shine. St. George News readers can use the exclusive discount code “BACONLOVER” for 15% off.

Runners may pick up their registration packets at the St. George Running Center, located at 2736 E. Red Cliffs Drive #5 in St. George, on Friday, March 29, from 3-7 p.m. Packet pickup will also be available near the starting line from 7:15-7:45 a.m. on race day.

Participants are encouraged to stick around afterward to enjoy the salty, savory goodness of bacon strips, bacon bits and bacon-topped donuts at the finish line, plus sponsor giveaways. This year’s Hog and Jog is sponsored by Ivins City, TDS, Dairy Farmers of America, the Lifetime Store, the St. George Running Center and Planet 105.1.

Many families also stay for Ivins City’s annual Easter Egg Scramble, which will take place at 9 a.m. at Unity Park. Kids 12 and under are welcome to participate for free and will be divided into three age groups. Everyone must bring their own basket for collecting eggs.
