Oct. 28, 1936-Dec. 31, 2023

Arlene Walburger Hinman, 87, passed away peacefully at her home in St. George, Utah on Dec. 31, 2023.  She was born Oct. 28, 1936 in Cardston, Alberta, Canada, to Emma Broadbent and John T. Walburger.

She attended schools in both Mountain View and Cardston. After graduation, she worked as a phone operator for Alberta Government Telephones.

A few years later, she moved to southern California where she learned automotive accounting. It was at an automotive dealership in California where she met William (Bill) T. Hinman.  They were married in Los Alamitos, California, on Jan. 18, 1964. They were later sealed in the Los Angeles LDS temple. After 13 years in southern California, they decided to take a trip. They traveled to Oregon and found the area beautiful and decided to buy a house while they were there and moved the family up to Salem, Oregon.

Arlene enjoyed many things in her life — gardening, rock hounding, quilting/sewing, genealogy/family history research, and collecting antiques, stamps and coins.

Arlene was preceded in death by her husband Bill, who passed Jan. 10, 1981, and parents John T. and Emma Walburger.

Arlene is survived by daughter Ramona Lane (Martin) of St. George, Utah, and son J. Leslie Hinman (Sandee) of Layton, Utah; grandchildren Jennifer Soules (Nate), Jessica Ward (Forrest), Keegan Stockham, Samantha Palmer (Kellen), Kailie Hinman, and Thomas Hinman; six great-grandchildren Katelyn, Aiden and Madeline Soules; Jackson and Maylee Ward; and Thea Palmer; and siblings Nedra W. Smith and Bennie Lamont Walburger.

In lieu of flowers, please go and enjoy her favorite dessert, a Wendy’s Frosty.  If you would, please take a photo of yourself with a Frosty and upload it to Facebook on her profile, or tag her (Arlene W Hinman) or her family.  If you have other photos of Arlene that you would like to share, please upload them as well.  Her family would love to see them and have them memorialized on her account there.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.  Interment will be at Belcrest Memorial in Salem, Oregon, next to her husband Bill.
