Betty Lou Simone Vaught was born on April 5, 1932, in Glendale, California, to Louis Simone and Jessie Wadsworth Simone. She had two other siblings, an older sister Phyllis who preceded her in death by two months and a younger brother Mike.
She married James William Vaught on Sept. 9, 1953, in Las Vegas, Nevada, and was later sealed to him on Feb. 28, 1973, in the Los Angeles Temple.
Betty was raised in Glendale, but also lived in Hawaii; Antigua West Indies; Valencia, California; Huntington Beach California; St. George, Utah; and Trinidad and Tobago as a missionary with her husband.
Betty loved to travel and visited many faraway places such as Italy, Turkey, England and Amsterdam and many trips to Hawaii, her happy place. She and her husband were square dancers for many years. She enjoyed doing family history and spent many hours in the temple on behalf of her ancestors.
Betty is survived by her five children: Kathleen Jones, James Vaught Jr. (Julie), Keith Vaught, Aaron Vaught (Melissa), and Ashton, as well as 16 grandchildren: Shauna Williams, Michele Hinton, Stacy Wimmer, Kerri Mitchell, Steven Jolan, Kevin Jones, Randal Miller, Chris Miller, Betsy Smith, James Vaught III, Jaime Speight, Amber Smith, Jessica Klein, Janelle Vaught, Aaron Charles Vaught and Heather Van der Puyl.
Betty is preceded in death by her husband, her parents and her sister.
A visitation will be held on Friday, Nov.10, from 4-5 p.m., immediately followed by the memorial service, at Spilsbury Mortuary, 110 South Bluff St., St. George, Utah.
Interment will take place on Monday, Nov. 13, at 9 a.m., at Tonaquint Cemetery, 1777 South Dixie Drive, St. George, Utah.
