ST. GEORGE — Imagine watching someone whip up a delectable three-course meal in the comfort of your own home without lifting a finger. The best part? It won’t cost you a dime and everything from the food to the cleanup is included.

“It’s like a night off with the Food Network,” Bridgette Gentry, authorized dealer of Life Changing Dinners said. “It’s dinner and show that you just get to sit back and enjoy.”

Gentry, who’s run Life Changing Dinners in Southern Utah for the last nine years, said it all started when she took an intro cooking class herself that changed her life. The brand teaches that giving up delicious food for better nutrition isn’t necessary. Instead, both can coexist. And they’re dedicated to cooking easy, delicious and nutritious meals every single day.

Instead of offering pre-packaged ingredients or expensive subscription services, they’re providing essential skills and tools that can lead to a healthier daily life.

The intro class includes employees of Life Changing Dinners coming into families’ homes with the food and equipment necessary to teach easy, healthy meals for the entire family. Genry said the meals are also kid-friendly and approved.

Each class includes the use of Saladmaster cookware, which Gentry said is non-toxic and made of 316 Titanium Steel — the highest grade steel used in the cookware industry. They come with patented lids and heat-conducting alloys to keep all food at the same temperature while cooking. They’re corrosion-proof, easy to clean and don’t expand like other metals.

And once the food is cooked, the family enjoys the meal and the full clean-up is provided.

“Our whole goal here is to teach families how to cook at home and make easy, delicious, healthy recipes,” Gentry said. “Food is medicine and it can be and I just want to share it.”

The in-home cooking experience includes fried chicken, lasagna, salad, cake and applesauce all made in under 30 minutes. Diabetes and heart disease are prevalent in many families, and Gentry said that motivates them to spread knowledge and ways to prevent it. Most recipes consist of four to six ingredients and many are approved by the American Diabetes Association.

“We want easy,” she said. “We know people are busy. Come hungry, eat the food, keep the recipe. It’s a lot of fun getting the whole family involved. And people really appreciate what we do.”

What’s the cost of the introductory class? All intro classes are free. Additional cooking classes, which are held at The Kitchen in St. George, are $25 and aim to inspire new recipe ideas and variety. Classes also take place in other Utah locations. See the class schedule for more information. Those interested can also take a cooking class without the introductory class.

“I’m not a chef or anything, I’m just a busy mom myself,” Gentry said. “So these classes help give more recipe ideas and how you can incorporate the same vegetables and fruits in a variety of meals.”

The next cooking class with Life Changing Dinners will take place on Feb. 22 from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at The Kitchen. Attendees will learn five new recipes to take home and eat delicious food. “We really want to inspire healthy cooking at home,” Gentry said. “That’s our whole goal. And we’re here to help and educate to create a growing health community.
