June 8, 1953-Jan. 25, 2024

Edward “Eddie” Dorsey was born June 8, 1953, in Richmond, Virginia. He died on Jan. 25, 2024, after complications secondary to Covid-19 at the age of 70.

He was the son of Edward G. Dorsey Jr. and Mintie Covington Dorsey. At the age of 5, he and his family moved from Richmond to Brigham City, Utah, for his father’s work at Thiokol.

He graduated from Brigham City High School and attended Utah State University. He married Elizabeth “Betty” VanderStappen on Sept. 4, 1982, and was a loving husband for over 41 years.

Eddie worked for the Utah Driver License Division for 15 years in the Salt Lake City and Moab offices. He also spent time as a psychiatric technician and went on to become a radiology technician in Pueblo, Colorado and Page, Arizona.

He was an avid skier and spent many happy days at Beaver Mountain in Logan Canyon. He loved to hike, camp, golf and enjoy being outdoors, especially in the Southwest. He spent the last 16 years in St George, Utah.

He is survived by his wife Betty, daughter Jessica Pauline Dorsey, grandson Aiden Edward Dorsey — “The Bear,” who was the apple of his eye — his sister Martha Ward and brother-in-law Dale Ward of Brigham City, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.

We would like to thank Intermountain Hospice for the weeks of care and support given to him and his family in his last days.

Eddie did not want a formal service but to be cremated and have his ashes scattered in Zion National Park and at Beaver Mountain in Logan Canyon. Rest in peace, Sweetheart. We love you and will miss you, but will think of your spirit in those places.
