St. George Police officer Tiffany Mitchell told St. George News that a white Lexus SUV collided with a red Bronco.

A passenger with non-life-threatening injuries and was in the Bronco was taken to the hospital, said Mitchell, adding that the Lexus was headed eastbound on Dixie Drive when the driver suddenly brought the vehicle to a stop.

Other drivers began to honk at him, Mitchell said. Then the Lexus driver made a left turn onto South Black Ridge Drive and collided with the Bronco, Mitchell added.

The momentum from the collision spun the Lexus around and sent it crashing into a light post at the corner of the intersection.

Black Ridge Drive was closed between Auto Mall and Dixie drives while emergency responders worked the scene.

Dixie Drive westbound was reduced to one lane while cleanup ensued. Tow trucks removed both vehicles, and normal traffic resumed after about 45 minutes.

Mitchell said the driver of the Lexus was cited for improper lane change and failure to yield to a passing vehicle.

This report is based on statements by police personnel and may not include the full scope of the findings.
