St. George Police Sgt. Tyrell Bangerter said a charcoal grey Toyota Camry was traveling northbound on Bluff Street when a grey Honda Civic traveling southbound turned left onto 700 South. The Camry and Honda Civic collided in the intersection.

Bangerter said the driver of the Civic was cited for failure to yield.

Both vehicles had extensive damage on the front end and had to be towed from the scene by Red Rock Collision Repair and Superior Auto Body and Towing. Airbags deployed in both vehicles.

Each vehicle had one adult man driving. Neither needed medical transport but were examined on scene.

Bangerter said this intersection is a common site of collisions, and drivers need to be more aware when driving and ensure all traffic is stopped or there is plenty of time before turning left.

Other officers on the scene said other intersections with a propensity for collisions include 700 South-River Road, Riverside Drive-River Road and Red Cliffs Drive-Mall Drive.

Drivers turning right off 700 South onto Bluff were rerouted through the parking lot of Realty Express.

The scene was cleared and reopened for regular traffic travel at about 2 p.m.

St. George Police, St. George Fire Department and Gold Cross Ambulance responded to the scene.

This report is based on statements from police or other responders and may not contain the full scope of findings.
