CEDAR CITY — Cedar City Regional Airport enthusiastically welcomed a larger aircraft to SkyWest Airlines daily flight schedule — the Bombardier CRJ-900.

According to a recent media release, the newest regional jet offers higher seating capacity, first-class amenities, comfort-class options and has fully replaced previous aircraft provided by SkyWest/Delta Airlines.

“The utilization of large aircraft at our airport increases our landing fee revenue and it also demonstrates that Cedar City Regional Airport can handle larger aircraft, especially after our terminal expansion is completed in 2025,” said Airport Manager, Tyler Galetka.

Located at 2560 W. Aviation Way, the Cedar City Regional Airport is the third-busiest airport in Utah and currently offers daily jet service with SkyWest Airlines to Salt Lake City.

Cedar City Council Members and airport staff have been committed to expanding and improving the services at the airport and were excited to welcome the CRJ-900.

“If you fly out of Cedar City Regional Airport, you might recognize the CRJ-900 is the same type of aircraft offered for the majority of the flights at St. George Regional Airport,” the media release stated.

Cedar City airport’s lobby expansion project is scheduled to break ground in April providing a larger holding area for passengers and airport guests by quadrupling the current seating capacity.

This project is fully funded through federal grants and airport revenue sources. Improvements will also include restriping the runway and purchasing additional snow removal equipment, the release continued.

Additional destinations and flight times continue to be a struggle due to the nation’s ongoing pilot shortage, however, it still remains a top priority for city leadership and staff. Many passengers are already taking advantage of the new amenities available with the CRJ-900 by upgrading to first class or the comfort class option.

“On behalf of Cedar City leadership and staff, thank you to all who choose to book your travels through the Cedar City Regional Airport,” the release said. “You can travel anywhere in the world, right from your local airport.”
