“The opportunity to get help is an amazing gift,” said Kelly Cluff, director of marketing and admissions for Lion’s Gate. “The gift is not just for the individual. This is hope for the family. This is an opportunity. And for some, an answer to prayers.”

Lion’s Gate is giving back to the Southern Utah community with two full-ride scholarships to their facility. Services include medical care, social detox, residential treatment and partial hospitalization.

Full-ride scholarships include any required treatment with specific care tailored to the individual patient’s needs. As a bonus, the scholarships also include one month of sober living, which aims to provide support and guidance into a life of sobriety. The life skills learned here will last a lifetime.

“And really, aftercare for life, if they want it,” Cluff said about the scholarships. “It’s all they need in order to get and stay sober and be successful.”

Cluff, along with most of the licensed and trained staff at Lion’s Gate, has experienced the prison of addiction firsthand. But he also knows what it’s like to experience the freedom of recovery. He entered a treatment facility on Nov. 2, 2000, a day that ultimately saved his life, and he’s been sober ever since.

“This time 23 years ago, I was building a new family, a new support system – one that I still have in my life today,” he said. “I think it’s one of the coolest gifts I’ve gotten.”

The clinicians at Lion’s Gate are seasoned professionals who incorporate various methodologies of recovery, including spiritual wellness and 12-step facilitation, into their programs. Their combination of personal experience and clinical training helps guide others from a place of understanding and support. They don’t just teach a life of sobriety; they live it every single day.

Lion’s Gate knows that dealing with addiction as a family is difficult, which is why they offer family group sessions year-round that are completely free and open to the public. The group is meant for those who seek information about addiction while feeling supported by others who have experienced similar traumas.

Family Group was established more than 20 years ago, and many members have been attending for over a decade. The seasoned group members help facilitate and give back to group members who may be in despair due to their loved one’s addiction. In this setting, families can find solidarity and support from those who have navigated the rough waters that addiction often brings.

Lion’s Gate is dedicated to providing individuals with the tools to break free from addiction. Not only do they have a comprehensive clinical program, but their real-life experience creates a revolutionary approach. Clients who complete the Lion’s Gate program know that they have a forever family they can count on.
