Officially sponsored by Canyon Media and St. George News, MOD The Modern Market will have over 100 different vendors. There will also be eight food trucks, like Cal’s Smokin Tacos, the Corn Dog Company, Backdoor Pizzeria and more. The variety of vendors will include both local shops and family-owned businesses from around Utah.

Rachell Torgerson, founder of MOD The Modern Market and owner of Sun + Sage Designs, will host the upcoming market at Vernon Worthen Park.

Through Torgerson’s personal business, where she sells a special collection of earrings, she has experienced firsthand how difficult it can be to start a new business and get it in front of the general public. In addition, new business owners often don’t know where to start marketing their products, she said, adding that in her experience, even online markets such as Etsy often don’t work well for those who are first starting out.

“When I started doing markets, I realized that there was a need for more options because it gives more opportunities for the small business owners,” Torgerson said. “I also wanted the vendors to be treated kind and good, as well as creating a unique experience for those that attend.”

Torgerson said she has put in a tremendous amount of work and is happy with how MOD The Modern Market has come together each time.

“The small businesses participating in the upcoming market have been so grateful,” she continued. “We host the market in the spring and the fall, so we are excited for the vendors and all those who attend each event.”

All 100 vendor spots were filled back in September, Torgerson said, showing the demand and interest of small businesses in the area. About 60-70% of the market will consist of handmade goods, and Vernon Worthen Park is the perfect location to showcase all of it.

“We are fortunate to have the market here,” she added. “Each event, we keep adding more booths and vendors.”

Torgerson encourages the community to bring their families and come out to experience a day full of food, fun and shopping in support of local businesses and their crafts. She also expressed gratitude to everyone who has come together to make this event possible.
