Bracken’s father introduced him to the game as a young boy, and he started competing in junior tournaments around the age of 11. At 12, he placed within the top 10 at the U.S. Kids Golf World Championship.

And it didn’t take long for Bracken to establish himself as one of Southern Utah’s top high school golfers. Bracken’s undeniable talent and coolness under pressure have helped propel the Mustangs to three state titles during the past four seasons. He’s also a two-time individual state champion.

Bracken spent most of the summer traveling across the country to compete in various tournaments, including the Junior Players Championship, the Junior PGA Championship and the prestigious U.S. Junior Amateur Championship.

“For junior golf, playing in the U.S. Am is pretty special,” he said. “I learned a lot, and it was definitely a treat.”

Bracken, a senior at Crimson Cliffs, has been recruited by Arizona State University and plans to sign his National Letter of Intent within the next couple of weeks. Arizona State is a name synonymous with dominance in collegiate golf, and the Sun Devils men’s team boasts such legendary alumni as Phil Mickelson and Jon Rahm.

“I’m super excited,” he said. “It’s where I’ve always dreamed of going, honestly ever since I picked up a club.”

Looking back on his golf career thus far, Bracken expressed gratitude to his parents for being there every step of the way to cheer him on and motivate him to improve. His advice for young players? Practice, practice, practice.

“Keep your head down, keep grinding,” he said. “It’s in the dirt. That’s where it is.”
