The Utah Highway Patrol and St. George Police responded to the report of a rollover on Interstate 15 just north of the Exit 5/Dixie Drive interchange around 4:30 p.m. What they found was a blue, four-door Toyota pickup around 50 feet off the roadway that has landed on its side.

Utah Highway Patrol trooper Leo Snyder told St. George News that the pickup and a gray Toyota Corolla had come off Exit 5 and were moving toward the far left lane to merge onto the main flow of I-15.

“Contact was made somewhere within that lane between the two vehicles causing the blue truck to roll and end up where it is,” Snyder said as he gestured to the nearby truck.

Due to conflicting statements from the drivers involved, Snyder said no citations were being issued at the time and that the investigation was ongoing. However, road rage appears to be a potential factor in the crash, he said.

While the pickup truck took the brunt of the damage, the Corolla – which was pulled over to the side of the road – had minimal damage by comparison and was able to be driven away.

No major injuries were reported related to the crash.

The St. George Fire Department and local Utah Department of Transportation incident management unit also responded to the scene.

This report is based on preliminary statements from law enforcement officials and may not contain the full scope of findings.
