ST. GEORGE — Turns out the boys volleyball players in Region 9 are pretty good.

Pine View captured the 4A state championship in the first year of boys varsity volleyball competition and led the all-Region 9 team with five representatives.

As previously reported in St. George News, Pine View recovered from a two-set deficit and beat top-seeded Orem 3-2 to capture the 4A title in Orem on May 10.

The Panthers finished the season 25-5, including an 11-1 mark in Region 9. Pine View shared the Region 9 championship with Crimson Cliffs.

Both Pine View and Crimson Cliffs were well represented on the all-region team when it was announced by coaches shortly after the season ended.

Blackmore shared all-Region 9 MVP honors with Crimson’s Alex Peterson.

All-Region 9 volleyball first team: Corbin Batista (Snow Canyon), Cody Campbell and Trevor Condie (Pine View), Cohen Romney and Karter Johnson (Crimson Cliffs), Landon Kreitzer (Cedar), Cael Carter (Hurricane).

All-Region 9 volleyball second team: Luke Munson (Cedar), Kai James and Brody Hoag (Desert Hills), Nathan Mitchell and Isaiah Warner (Pine View), Janrey Gepitulan (Crimson Cliffs), Trevor Clayton (Hurricane).

All-Region 9 volleyball honorable mention: Ethan Elam (Crimson Cliffs), Jordan Jenson (Dixie), Owen Jones (Desert Hills), Wiley Gunn (Cedar), Marshal Stout and Kandon Heaton (Hurricane).
