According to a Monday Facebook post by Beaver County Search and Rescue, team members were mobilized Saturday evening after receiving an activation alert to rescue an individual trapped in a mine on the east side of the Mineral Mountains.

“The team deployed to the remote site via vehicle and then by foot for 45 minutes in darkness,” the statement said. “After establishing a medical and support station at the base of the hill, emergency responders ascended to the mine and, after securing rigging, proceeded to descend to assist the trapped individual.”

The man was then successfully extricated from the mine unharmed, the post said.

After being medically evaluated at the scene, the man was released, and the operation was concluded.

The rescue operation was conducted by seven search and rescue personnel comprising Beaver County’s ropes team, Beaver County Sheriff Cody Black told Cedar City News.
