June 12, 1930-Jan. 30, 2024

Always a jokester and up for an adventure, Sam lived a long and full life. He was born in Columbia, Utah, and graduated from Carbon High School. He served in the Korean War aboard the USS Endicott. He worked on road crews briefly and then many years for the Utah Highway Patrol. He delighted in scaring his children by driving quietly up behind them in his patrol car, as they walked through the subdivision, and turning on his siren. He taught us all to love camping and fishing.

Later, he took up river rafting and rafted rivers all over the West: the Grand Canyon, Green River, Yampa, Salmon and others. He spent many summers in Alaska floating the Kanuti, Chilakadrotna, Little Susitna and Kenai Rivers and fishing the streams on the Denali Highway. When he wasn’t in Alaska in the summer, he loved to drive his motor home into the mountains in Utah and spend his time fishing for trout in the creeks.

He is the last of the children of Russell and Leah Williams and was preceded in death by his son Chad Allen Williams. He is survived by his daughters Paula Williams, Laurel Pierson and Stacy Williams.

Sam has requested no funeral services.  His ashes will be spread in a small family ceremony. Please leave a card or a remembrance for the family in lieu of flowers.
