St. George Police Department Officer Douglas Jaycox said a Chevrolet Colorado truck tried to make a left-hand turn from northbound Bluff Street and hit a Hyundai Sonata, pushing the Sonata into a Toyota 4Runner.

“That southbound passenger car went into a Toyota 4Runner, hit that car and they spun out, went over into the east side of the road,” Jaycox said. “One female was transported to the hospital with unknown injuries. The driver of the Chevy Colorado was arrested for suspicion of DUI.”

He added that a dog in the Hyundai Sonata was not injured and was taken to animal control for care until it could be reunited with the owner.

Jaycox reminded residents to drive safely and not get behind the wheel when under the influence of drugs, alcohol or prescription medications.

Responding to the incident included the St. George Police Department, St. George Fire Department, Gold Cross Ambulance and St. George Animal Control.

This report is based on statements from court records, police or other responders and may not contain the full scope of findings. Persons arrested or charged are presumed innocent until found guilty in a court of law or as otherwise decided by a trier-of-fact.
