CONTRIBUTED CONTENT — Stephen Wade Auto Center, Goldenwest Credit Union and Canyon Media once again awarded much-needed funding to local high school students through the ninth annual Kick4Cash events during this fall’s football season.

The Kick4Cash program was created by Stephen Wade Auto Center with the goal of supporting underfunded clubs, teams and organizations at Washington County’s high schools. Many of these groups receive minimal sponsorship dollars. Past recipients have included debate teams, lacrosse teams, chess clubs, art clubs, student councils and more.
“A lot of activities just don’t have the sponsors like basketball, football, baseball and other sports,” said Jamie Bahlmann, public relations director for Stephen Wade Auto Center. “It’s pretty cool that other organizations have a chance at getting this money.”
At the start of football season, every high school shares a Kick4Cash video on Instagram and encourages students to leave a comment with their favorite club or team name. The three groups that receive the most comments earn the opportunity to “kick for cash.” Each club selects a kicker to attempt field goals during their school’s next halftime event and win up to $500 for their organization.
This year, a total of $6,700 was awarded to local schools during six Kick4Cash events. Hurricane High School participated for the first time, and their debate team scored the top prize of $500.
“It’s just one of the best ways that we’ve found to give back,” Bahlmann said.
A total of 67 organizations participated, with 18 clubs receiving money from the Kick4Cash events.

More than $60,000 has been awarded to local high schools via Kick4Cash over the past eight years. That doesn’t include the amount donated during basketball season through the Shoot4Cash events, which challenge students to sink half-court shots for money.
“Kick4Cash and Shoot4Cash have evolved into a great way for clubs, teams and organizations to earn money for their organization,” Bahlmann said. “Each year, Goldenwest Credit Union, Stephen Wade Auto Center and Canyon Media contribute to our students’ success.”
Stephen Wade Auto Center is Southern Utah’s Auto Mall, offering the largest selection of new and used vehicles in the area. Goldenwest Credit Union is a not-for-profit cooperative owned by its 150,000 members. Canyon Media provides creative and effective marketing, advertising and promotion-based strategies for local and regional businesses.
Together, these companies have partnered to provide an opportunity to give back to local area high schools by creating and administering the Kick4Cash and Shoot4Cash events each year.
