Dec. 7, 1986-Nov. 12, 2023

Steven Jeffry Ricks, 36, passed away unexpectedly Nov. 12, 2023.

Steven Jeffry Ricks (aka “The Beav”) was born on Dec. 7, 1986, in Colorado Springs, Colorado, to Jeff and Linda Ricks. He grew up in St. George, Utah. Though he was quiet and unassuming on the surface, Steven was hilarious and witty to those who knew him best. Steven was known as the “funcle” to his nieces and nephews, each of whom believed they were his favorite.

Steven loved all types of music, especially rock and roll, and found joy in attending concerts, playing vinyls in his room and picking out a bass riff with his dad. Prior to his death, Steven had finally found love and was in a relationship with Nicole, a beautiful woman who gave Steven a sense of purpose and worth.

Steven suffered in silence for most of his life from a seizure disorder that made it difficult for him to enjoy some of the typical life experiences. Despite his limitations, he was a dedicated and loyal friend, family member and employee. He rarely missed a day from work due to his illness and became a favorite of the staff and students at Mountain View Montessori where he worked as the head custodian “Mr. Steve.” It breaks our hearts that this disorder was ultimately too much for his body to handle and took him from us so early.

Steven was a faithful and active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He had a simple but powerful testimony of Jesus Christ and His restored gospel.

Steven is survived by his parents Jeff and Linda Ricks; sisters Melissa Ricks (Isaac) and Celeste Snyder (Tyler); brother Taylor Ricks (Ruby); four nieces and four nephews. We all loved and will continue to love him forever. Love you, Steven.
