Aug. 20, 1934-Nov. 13, 2023

Thomas Arthur “Tom” Stirling returned to his heavenly home on Nov. 13, 2023, in St. George, Utah. He was born Aug. 20, 1934, in Hurricane, Utah, to Thelma Workman and Rex Stirling. Tom married his sweetheart Fawn Ida Terry, in Rockville, Utah, on Nov. 27, 1953. They were sealed in the Las Vegas LDS Temple on Nov.  28, 2014. They were married for almost 70 years and had a family celebration two days before his death.

Tom grew up in Leeds and Hurricane, Utah. His family home in Hurricane was the third one built in the town. He loved sports and played baseball, football, and basketball. He excelled in academics and graduated from Hurricane High School when he was 16. After, he attended the Branch Agriculture College in Cedar City, Utah.

Tom was a natural at all sports. He continued playing after college in adult leagues. He coached many teams, as well.

In 1953, Tom and Fawn moved to Henderson, Nevada. Tom worked at Stauffer Chemical Company (later named Pioneer Chemical Company) in Henderson, Nevada, for 35 Years. In 1992, he retired as the maintenance planner.  

In 2001, Tom and Fawn built a cabin in Duck Creek, Utah, where they spent many summers and holidays. In 2021, they moved to Hurricane, Utah.

In his later years, Tom spent hours listening to books on tape and watching videos of the many leaders of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.  He loved attending church and taking drives to see the beautiful scenery.

Tom and Fawn have three children: Sandy (Gary) Croft of Hurricane, Janet Stewart of Hurricane and Ron (Resty) of the Philippines; nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Tom was preceded in death by his parents Rex and Thelma Stirling; his six siblings Mary, Brent, Jackie, Bob, Cherrie and Sue; and his granddaughter JanaLyn Croft.

Funeral services were held at the Hurricane Valley Metcalf Mortuary located at 140 North Main St, Hurricane, Utah. He was laid to rest at the Hurricane City Cemetery.
