Utah Tech’s football team, still stinging after back-to-back fourth-quarter defeats, will try to even its record in the United Athletic Conference Saturday in a game against Abilene Christian in Abilene, Texas.

Last-play losses against North Arkansas and Eastern Kentucky dropped the Trailblazers to 1-2 in the UAC, 2-6 overall.

Meanwhile, ACU (2-2 UAC, 4-4) lost 52-14 last week at Southern Utah.

Utah Tech quarterback Kobe Tracy continues to pile up numbers. He completed 26-of-49 attempts for 247 yards in last week’s home loss to Eastern Kentucky. And for the third consecutive week, he threw three touchdown passes.

ACU counters with quarterback Maverick McIvor, who has thrown for 1,484 yards and 14 touchdowns in eight games this season.

The Trailblazers and Wildcats kick off Saturday at 1 p.m. (MDT) at Wildcat Stadium in Abilene.

Brooksby honored by UAC

Utah Tech kicker Connor Brooksby’s outstanding season continued as he was named United Athletic Conference Special Teams Player of the Week.

Brooksby hit all three of his field goal attempts in the homecoming game against Eastern Kentucky. One of those was a 55-yard bomb that tied his own school record for longest field goal.

The junior kicker, a local product out of Pine View High School, also booted field goals of 31 and 23 yards and made all three of his point-after tries against the Colonels.

Brooksby is already Utah Tech’s career leader in made field goals, PATs and points scored (188).

The recognition marks the second time this season that Brooksby collected UAC Player of the Week honors.
