PAROWAN — A Utah Department of Transportation road construction contractor is expected to begin flood repair work on an eight-mile segment of state Route 143 in Parowan Canyon on Monday.

Crews plan to replace four culvert pipes between Parowan and Brian Head during the next two months. In January, work on damaged barrier walls is scheduled to begin. Construction schedules are subject to change due to weather conditions and material availability.

Sections of SR 143 will be restricted to a single lane during the expected work hours of 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday. A flagging operation will provide alternating one-way passage. The project will repair damage caused by flooding in 2022 and improve drainage for the corridor.

The public is encouraged to visit the UDOT Traffic app or website for the current closure status and construction activities.
