ST. GEORGE — If you’re looking for smoked meat done the right way, you’ll want to check out Pica Rica BBQ. In this week’s episode of “What’s on the Menu,” host Sheldon Demke brought his buddy Josh Elliot to downtown St. George to sample the very best Americana barbecue experience in red rock country.

Located on Main Street in the heart of the historic district, Pica Rica brings a unique palette to Southern Utah’s food scene. Infused with the flavors of central Texas-style barbecue and Mexican cuisine, there’s no gas or electricity involved in their cooking – it’s all wood, and you can’t beat that authentic smoked taste. Bring your appetite, because there’s more than enough to go around.

Dig in with Sheldon and Josh at Pica Rica BBQ in this week’s episode of “What’s on the Menu” in the media player above.

“Pica rica” means “rich and delicious” in Spanish, and that’s exactly what their menu offers. Everything they serve, from the sauces to the tortillas, is made in-house.

Founder Jason Neeley, also Utah’s 2022 Restaurateur of the Year, spoiled Demke and Elliot with the Big Baller Platter. It’s a decadent array of spare ribs with Carolina mustard glaze, central Texas brisket, barbacoa tacos, smoked turkey, house-made sausage and smoked wings with Pica Rica’s signature white barbecue sauce.

“This has been one of the greatest lunches I’ve ever had in my life,” Demke said.

“I’ll be here again,” Elliot agreed. “I’m from Kansas and I know good barbecue, and this is pretty dang good barbecue.”
