June 22, 1955-Nov. 25, 2023

Gregory (Greg) Gurr was reunited with his parents and brother in heaven on Nov. 25, 2023. He was born on June 22, 1955, in Parowan, Utah to Charles Heber Gurr and Venice Colleen Moore.

Greg spent his early childhood in Parowan before his family moved to Beaver, Utah, where he lived most of his life. Throughout high school, he enjoyed playing football, basketball and baseball before serving an LDS mission in Boston, Massachusetts. With Beaver as his home, he gained a love and passion for the outdoors. He was an avid hunter and outdoorsman and loved spending time with his family and friends on Beaver Mountain. He had a special love for hunting elk with friends in numerous places, especially with a muzzleloader. He also gained an interest in gunsmithing, which allowed him to build multiple rifles for himself and his family over the years.

Greg served in the Army National Guard and was so proud of his service to the country he loved. He gained a brotherhood and friendships that lasted a lifetime. After his service in the military, he continued serving his family, friends, and community in various capacities including church callings, the local Lion’s Club, and scouting programs. After 20-plus years in the Army, Greg held various occupations, the most recent of which was managing the Comfort Inn in Beaver, where he was proud of the awards they received under his purview. He later retired to St. George, where he enjoyed the last years of his life.

He had an immense love for his children and grandchildren and was very proud of their families. He loved passing on traditions, interests and recipes to them. He was known for his giving spirit and was happiest when he was serving others. You’d often find him cooking for family and friends (we all know the crab dip). He would help anyone, at any time, and do it with a smile. Through his example, he instilled the joy of serving in his family.

He is survived by his sons Chanceler (Kimi) and Robbie (Kellie), his siblings Kathy (Bill), Rick (Tonya), Lory (Karla) and Debbie (Mike). He is the grandfather to Halle, Parker, Blake, Alex, Chloee and Saydee. He is preceded in death by his father Heber, his mother Colleen and his brother Curtis.

Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 1, at the Beaver Stake Center at 1350 E 200 N, Beaver. A viewing will be held prior at 10 a.m. at the Stake Center.
